I’m Heather Deyo, an international retreat and travel planner who loves partnering with curious travelers to create unique experiences.
Born and raised in South Africa, I was bitten by the travel bug at an early age. My family spent many of my formative years traveling across the world, and I never stopped. Today, I love coordinating travel and hosting public and private retreats and adventures. I partner with those looking to get a non-touristy glimpse into authentic cultures, in addition to those once-in-a-lifetime sights.
I draw on decades of experience, time-cultivated relationships, and my passion for compassionate, respectful, restorative, and sustainable travel. I truly love crafting unique adventures while taking the guesswork out of the logistics, allowing you to fully focus on your travel experience.
I’ll unlock the beauty and transformative power of every destination you visit, allowing you to travel like no one else.
I’m a mom of four, an almost empty-nester, and happily married to Seth, my husband of 30 years.
I’m a former CPA and met Seth when we were both investigating a fraud. We were engaged within three weeks, so I guess (someone’s) crime paid off!
I immigrated to the U.S. from South Africa as a young teen, and I couldn’t figure out why there weren’t monkeys in the trees of our new neighborhood. I’d also never owned a pair of jeans.
When my kids were little, I didn’t want them to think we were boring, so I told them we’d been circus performers before we were accountants. They believed us for far too long!
I spent my childhood going on safaris and thought they were so boring. How?! I want those years back!
Not only is the place magical, but Heather’s hospitality is over the top! The wine, Prosecco and cheese spread at every turn…whether in the garden, painting art or as we prepare for dinner. Her knowledge of the towns we visited was vast and made each visit all the more meaningful. If you wanted to revisit a town you fell in love with later in the week, she would take you. If you wanted to visit an antique store to find treasures she knew just the spot! There is zero stress to your experience and Heather is an absolute delight with the exceptional gift of hospitality!
I was ready to sign up again as I was flying home from the first one. I’m a pretty seasoned traveler, and can’t say enough about the attention and care that Heather and her co-hosts put into ensuring their guests have a truly spectacular time!
The retreat fed my soul: chiming church bells, strolling cobbled stone streets, cappuccino and gelato daily, delicious food and wine; relaxing time with friends. I’m already dreaming of a return trip.
